VET school for social professions with nursing preparation
Autumn 2023 marked the opening of a new 3-year VET school programme with nursing preparation. The programme is offered by the Fonds Soziales Wien Bildungszentrum‘s school for healthcare and nursing in Schlachthausgasse in cooperation with the VET school for social professions of the Fachschule Dörfelstrasse. The goal is to prepare students for training programmes in the field of nursing and care and provide them with specialist skills and comprehensive basic knowledge for taking up a social profession. After completing the school, students can take up a job or go on to train as care assistants or specialist care assistants. In the latter case, the care assistance topics taught in the VET school programme will be counted towards the continuing training programme that is attended afterwards.
The theoretic part of the programme will be taught at the VET school in Dörfelstrasse. Work placements will be completed at different healthcare and nursing facilities in Vienna on individual days during the week.
Admission requirements
- Successful completion of school year 8
- Annual school report of the last-attended school year
- Successful completion of the admission procedure at the VET school and the school for healthcare and nursing
- Reliability (criminal record certificate)
- Mandatory vaccinations for practical training
