<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>About “Pflege Zukunft Wien”<\/h1>\n<\/div>According to a survey conducted on behalf of the Dachverband Wiener Sozialeinrichtungen (Umbrella Association of Viennese Social Institutions) a further 9,000 nursing and care professionals will be needed in Vienna by 2030. At the same time, the healthcare and nursing profession is struggling with its image. Against this background, the City of Vienna has launched a large-scale initiative to redress the situation. Implementing their political mandate, the Fonds Soziales Wien (Vienna Social Fund), the Hochschule Campus Wien university of applied sciences and the Wiener Gesundheitsverbund (Vienna Healthcare Group) have joined forces and established the \u201cPflege Zukunft Wien\u201d education and training initiative with the aim of meeting the high demand for healthcare and nursing in Vienna while assuring a high quality of education and training in this field.<\/p>\n
Since the start of the initiative the general conditions of education and training have been steadily improved. Furthermore, an information campaign, which was introduced in autumn 2021, and a specially designed social media campaign which was launched in 2024, have put a spotlight on the professional quality and the great diversity of nursing and care services. The goal is to make more people choose a job in healthcare and nursing in the future.<\/p>\n
Both the Fonds Soziales Wien Bildungszentrum (Education Centre) and several institutions of the Wiener Gesundheitsverbund offer training programmes for care assistants and specialist care assistants. The \u201cPflege Zukunft Wien\u201d education and training initiative will create 750 additional training places for care assistants and specialist care assistants at the FSW Bildungszentrum.<\/p>\n
Since autumn 2020, the FSW Bildungszentrum, together with its educational partners, has offered an education programme in nursing and care which combines vocational training with a higher secondary education and is completed by taking the university entrance exam (\u201cPflege mit Matura\u201d). The opening of a new school site in Erdbergstrasse has provided the required space to accommodate the expansion of training places. Moreover, autumn 2023 marked the launch of the 3-year VET school for social professions with nursing preparation. The goal is to prepare students for training programmes in the field of nursing and care and provide them with comprehensive basic knowledge for taking up a social profession.<\/p>\n
810 additional places for graduate healthcare and nursing professionals have been created at the Hochschule Campus Wien under the \u201cPflege Zukunft Wien\u201d initiative. Starting in 2024, 1,400 programme places will be gradually bundled in one location at the newly built House of Health Sciences of the Wiener Gesundheitsverbund on the premises of the Hochschule Campus Wien.<\/p>\n
In 2024, the first graduates who had received a place funded by the FSW successfully completed their bachelor\u2019s degree in healthcare and nursing.<\/p>\n
