In addition to the training programmes for care assistants and specialist care assistants and the degree programme for graduate healthcare and nursing professionals there are also other education and career options available. Below are some examples:<\/p>\n

Nursing education<\/strong><\/p>\n

Graduate healthcare and nursing professionals who have worked in this field for several years have acquired comprehensive experience and nursing expertise that provides a valuable foundation for teaching. Nursing educators train the next generation of healthcare and nursing professionals and in this way help to shape high-quality nursing and care services in the future.<\/p>\n

Academic expert programme in Nursing Education at the FH Campus Wien:<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the academic expert programme in Nursing Education<\/a>,<\/u>\u00a0which is offered on a part-time basis at the FH Campus Wien, experienced nursing professionals combine their practical expertise with knowledge from science and research, using a wide mix of didactic methods for this purpose. The three-semester academic expert programme offers two specialisations students can choose from: practice mentoring or simulation training.<\/p>\n

Master\u2019s programme in Advanced Nursing Education at the FH Campus Wien<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Students completing this continuing-education master\u2019s programme<\/a>\u00a0qualify to work as both nursing educators and university teachers. Thus, they are among the pioneers who are responsible for the (further) development of nursing education at universities.<\/p>\n

Mentoring<\/strong><\/p>\n

Everyone deciding to undergo training in the healthcare, nursing or social sectors in Austria will complete several work placements and will be supported by mentors. Mentors provide guidance to apprentices, trainees and new employees and act as a point of contact for the mentees. In Austria, further training to become a mentor is regulated by law. The\u00a0master\u2019s programme in Nursing Science<\/a> at the University of Vienna looks into issues related to the impact of illness, disease and disability on everyday life, the effects and effectiveness of nursing interventions and the influencing factors and contextual conditions of \u201cgood\u201d nursing care.
\nThe topics addressed in detail focus particularly on the areas of living with a disease and nursing interventions. Graduates of the programme will be able to independently plan, organise, implement and evaluate nursing research projects.<\/p>\n

Primary healthcare nursing<\/strong><\/p>\n

Experts in\u00a0primary healthcare nursing<\/a>\u00a0work in primary healthcare centres as members of the core team or in interdisciplinary teams of (group) practices and coordinate and support numerous measures in the nursing process in a cross-sectoral way. Primary healthcare nurses have their own field of activity in primary healthcare settings. They identify risks and develop related preventive concepts. They provide long-term training, advice and support to people with chronic diseases and patients with multimorbid conditions and they make preventive house calls. In addition, primary healthcare nurses are also responsible for providing medical care in acute cases and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.<\/p>\n

Public health<\/strong><\/p>\n

Occupations in this field focus on facilitating targeted health promotion and on acting as a liaison between different healthcare professions and healthcare settings. Target groups include communities, families, companies, schools and kindergartens. As a community nurse or family carer you will be the main point of contact for those who need care services and their families. You will enable local health promotion and prevention and offer advice and support to people in any life situation to help them cope with their daily life.
